The Benefits and Virtues of Ayatul Kursi
Ayatul Kursi, the Verse of the Throne, is verse 255 of Surah al-Baqarah. The Prophet ﷺ described it as the greatest verse in the Book of Allah. In just a few lines it contains a magnificent description of Allah, His knowledge, His power and His majesty.
The Meaning of the Verse
The verse declares that Allah is the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence, who never sleeps nor tires. His knowledge encompasses everything, His throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and He is the Most High, the Most Great. Reflecting on these meanings fills the heart with awe and reliance upon Allah.
Protection Until the Morning
The Prophet ﷺ taught that whoever recites Ayatul Kursi when going to bed will have a guardian from Allah, and no devil will come near them until morning. It is one of the simplest yet strongest forms of nightly protection.
The Path to Paradise
He ﷺ also said that whoever recites Ayatul Kursi after every obligatory prayer, nothing prevents them from entering Paradise except death. Imagine such an immense reward for a few seconds of recitation five times a day.
Making It a Daily Habit
Attach Ayatul Kursi to moments you never miss: after each salah, before sleeping, and when leaving the house. Over time these seconds accumulate into a lifetime of protection and closeness to Allah.
