Editorial Policy
This page states how the content on Muslim Essential Tools is chosen, written, sourced and corrected. It applies to every article, dua, dream entry and reference page on the site.
What this site does not do
Nothing here is a fatwa. We describe what a practice is, what the Quran and the hadith collections record about it, and where recognised schools of law differ. We do not issue rulings on a reader’s own circumstances.
Questions that depend on your situation — whether a particular fast must be made up, how a specific inheritance divides, whether a specific transaction is permitted — belong to a qualified scholar who can ask you questions back. A page cannot do that, and we say so on the pages where it matters most.
How sources are cited
Quranic references give the surah and verse. Hadith references name the collection and, where available, the number, so any reader can check them.
Where the schools of law differ, we name the schools and their positions rather than presenting one as the answer. Where a widely repeated claim has no reliable chain, we do not attach a false citation to it — we describe it as what is commonly related.
How prayer times and calendars are calculated
Prayer times are computed astronomically with the calculation method each audience follows: Diyanet for Turkish, Umm al-Qura for Arabic, Karachi for Urdu, Kemenag’s angles for Indonesian, and the Muslim World League otherwise. The method is not cosmetic; the wrong one moves Fajr by minutes.
Hijri dates use the Umm al-Qura calendar. Where a month’s start depends on local sighting, the page says so rather than presenting one country’s announcement as universal.
Dream interpretation
The dream dictionary records meanings assigned to symbols in the classical interpretive tradition. It is not a ruling and not a prediction. Interpreters have always held that the same symbol means different things for different people, and the pages say so.
Corrections
If you find an error — a misattributed hadith, a wrong verse number, an incorrect prayer time — write to us through the contact page. Corrections are made to the page itself.
