Brings inner peace and safety from harm.

As-Salam
The Source of Peace
The root. As-Salam comes from s-l-m, one of the most productive roots in Arabic — it also gives Islam (submission that brings soundness), salam (peace, and the word used as a greeting), and salama (safety, wholeness, being free of defect). What holds these words together is not the absence of conflict alone but a state of being intact — sound, undamaged, secure from harm. As-Salam takes the same intensive pattern seen in Ar-Rahman, naming a source that holds this soundness completely rather than merely offering it occasionally.
What it means here. As-Salam is read as the source from which all peace and soundness come and to which they return — Allah as free of every flaw, harm, or loss Himself, and as the one who grants safety and freedom from defect to His creation. It is often placed beside the other names from the Surah al-Hashr grouping, where Al-Malik establishes sovereignty and Al-Quddus establishes purity; As-Salam adds the sense of wholeness and safety that both of those depend on.
Where it is met. As-Salam is named in the same verse of Surah al-Hashr as Al-Malik and Al-Quddus. Its root, though, is far more present in daily life than the name itself: every Muslim greeting, as-salamu ʿalaykum, invokes this root directly, wishing the very peace named by this attribute upon another person, and the closing of the daily prayer ends with the same word.
