The date palm is read by its condition and by what the dreamer does at it. A tall palm in fruit is the settled favourable form: a person of firm standing whose benefit reaches others without being asked for. Eating fresh dates from the tree is read as good taken directly from its source, without an intermediary and without dispute. A palm that is cut down, burnt, or uprooted turns the reading toward the loss of such a person or of a support the dreamer relied on. A palm without fruit is read as standing that is real but not yet useful to anyone — position without yield. Climbing a palm was read as pursuing something high and difficult, with the reading resting on whether the climb succeeded. Planting a palm points to work whose benefit is deliberately set far from the present, since a palm is not planted for the year it goes in.
The palm's standing in the Qur'an is what carries the reading. In Maryam 19:25 Maryam is told to shake the trunk of the palm toward her so that fresh ripe dates fall — sustenance from a tree at the moment of greatest need. The wider image of the good word as a firmly rooted tree whose branches reach upward appears in Ibrahim 14:24. The interpreters read the palm along that line: rooted, upright, and productive without display.
This is a symbol, not a message about a person you can name. The dream does not identify who the tree is, does not forecast anyone's death when it falls, and imposes no obligation. Living where palms grow, eating dates at iftar, or recent talk of someone's illness will produce the image on its own. If what you saw distressed you, the taught response is to seek refuge in Allah, turn onto your other side, and not to tell it to anyone.

Dream interpretations are drawn from classical Islamic sources where one exists, and otherwise from general symbolism. They are guidance, never a ruling. Allah knows best.
