Dreaming of Yard in Islam

A yard is read by its size, its state, and what it holds. A wide, clean yard is read as room in a person's life — a household where guests are easy, and a chest not crowded by worry. A yard too small for the people in it is read as a life whose demands have outgrown its space, in a house or in a schedule. A yard full of guests is read as generosity and the standing that comes from it. A yard gone to weeds or piled with things unused is read as neglect of what is nearest, since a yard is the part of a home a person is not forced to keep. Sweeping or clearing a yard is read as ordering your own affairs, and the older interpretations treat the cleaning itself as the good part of the dream. A yard with a locked gate is read as hospitality withheld or a self closed off. A tree or water in the yard is read as a lasting benefit inside the household.

The reading works off a fixed Arabic image rather than an invented one: openness of the chest. To be given a wide chest is to be given ease and patience, which is how Allah's favour to His Prophet is described at the opening of al-Sharh 94:1. A yard is that same word made architectural — a person with room in them keeps a house with room in it.

This is not a sign about a house, a move, or money, and it is not a ruling. A home you are longing for, cramped living, an unfinished chore or plain need for air will each produce it. If the dream left you low, the response taught is to seek Allah's protection from its harm, turn onto your other side, and keep it to yourself.
