A journey is read by the road more than by the destination. A smooth, unobstructed road is read as a change of state that will be entered without struggle. A road that is blocked, or lost is read as a matter one cannot yet find the way into — and the interpreters read this as a question of the route, not of the goal. Setting out at dawn is read favourably; travelling at night as a matter undertaken without full sight of it. Arriving is the reading that settles all the rest, however hard the road was. Turning back before arriving is read as a decision reconsidered rather than a failure. Travelling with companions shifts the dream onto them: who was with you, and whether they helped or slowed you, is part of the reading. Carrying heavy baggage is read as bringing an old matter into a new state.
The Arabic riḥla is a journey with a purpose and a season to it, not a wandering — the Qur'an speaks of the journey of winter and the journey of summer (Quraysh 106:2), the two trading trips a whole city's living depended on. That is the sense the interpreters work from: a journey is a deliberate movement from one condition to another, undertaken because staying would not serve. The road, the load and the company are what a life change actually consists of, so the dream reads them all.
A dream of a journey is not a sign to go, and it is not a warning against going. It settles no decision — the tradition never made a dream a basis for choosing, and a plan should be weighed awake, on its own reasons, with counsel from people who know your situation. It carries no ruling. If the dream troubled you, seek refuge in Allah, turn onto your other side, and keep it to yourself.

Dream interpretations are drawn from classical Islamic sources where one exists, and otherwise from general symbolism. They are guidance, never a ruling. Allah knows best.
