The owl is read by where it sits and how the dreamer feels about it. An owl on a roof or a wall of the house is read as a person who keeps apart, or a presence around the family that says little and is hard to place. An owl in a ruin or an empty place is read as withdrawal — a life or a work emptied of company. An owl calling at night is read by the older interpretations as unwelcome talk carried after dark, gossip that travels when people are not watching. An owl that does not frighten you, or that you keep turns the reading toward chosen solitude and long night work rather than toward loss. Driving an owl away is read as separating yourself from an isolating habit or from someone who pulls you out of company. Being unable to see the owl but hearing it is read as a discomfort whose source you have not identified.
The association is cultural and plain rather than scriptural: the owl lives in ruins, hunts alone, and is awake when everyone else is asleep, so Arab usage long tied it to desolation and to being left behind by people. The Prophetic teaching cut against reading birds as omens — the tradition rejects taking any bird as a sign of ill fortune — and the interpreters accordingly read the owl as a picture of a temperament, not as a warning.
No owl seen in sleep foretells death, illness or bad fortune for anyone; that superstition is not part of the religion, and this dream carries no ruling. A late night, a period of loneliness, a stretch of working while others sleep will each produce it. If it left you afraid, do what was taught: ask Allah for protection from its harm, turn onto your other side, and keep the dream to yourself.

Dream interpretations are drawn from classical Islamic sources where one exists, and otherwise from general symbolism. They are guidance, never a ruling. Allah knows best.
