The dream is read by how deep the sinking goes and whether anything holds. Sinking slowly while the ground looks solid is the core of the image: a matter that appeared safe and gives way under weight, which is why it is read as caution about an arrangement rather than about a place. Struggling and sinking faster was read as effort that worsens a situation — the response, not the ground, being the problem. Being pulled out by someone turns the reading toward rescue through another person's help, and the identity of that person, if known, matters more than the sand. Watching someone else sink places the dreamer beside a difficulty he can see and may be able to name for the person in it. Standing at the edge and choosing not to cross is read favourably, as a hesitation that served the dreamer well. Reaching firm ground again closes the image on relief after a scare.
There is no ancient dream-symbol called quicksand; what the older readings treat is soft ground, mire and sand that will not carry weight, and the association is plain rather than obscure. Sand is the standard Arabic image of what cannot be built upon or counted on, and a foundation on shifting ground is a figure the interpreters used for commitments made without solid basis. The dream's force comes from the same place: the danger is not the depth but the false appearance of firmness.
This is not a warning about a particular deal, person or journey, and no decision should be made or unmade on it. It is not a ruling and it forecasts nothing. Anxiety, financial pressure and a choice you have been avoiding all produce sinking dreams reliably, and much of what is seen in sleep is simply the day repeating itself. If the dream alarmed you, seek refuge in Allah from it, turn onto your other side, and do not tell it to anyone.

Dream interpretations are drawn from classical Islamic sources where one exists, and otherwise from general symbolism. They are guidance, never a ruling. Allah knows best.
