Sheep are read by number, condition and what is done with them. A healthy flock in good pasture is the settled favourable form: provision that increases quietly, and people under the dreamer's care who are not giving him trouble. Owning sheep and counting them turns the reading toward wealth that must be tended rather than wealth that simply arrives — the older readings tied ownership here to responsibility. A single sheep carried or held is read as one dependent, one obligation, or a modest provision that is nonetheless enough. Sheep that scatter, or a flock the dreamer cannot gather points to people or affairs slipping out of the dreamer's ordering. A slaughtered sheep was read by circumstance: sacrificed and distributed, it is generosity and a duty discharged; killed and wasted, it is loss of the very thing that was providing. Wool taken from sheep is read as benefit drawn without harming the source, which the interpreters treated as the soundest kind of gain.
Two things support the reading. Livestock is the plain Qur'anic image of provision given and owned — a whole surah is named al-An'am, the grazing livestock — and sheep in particular carry the sense of wealth that is soft, useful and dependent. The other is the ransom of Ibrahim's son with a great sacrifice, recalled in as-Saffat 37:107, which fixes the slaughtered sheep as substitution and relief rather than as violence. Sheep also appear as the standard image of a flock needing a shepherd, and that is where the reading of followers comes from.
This dream is not a promise of money, not a sign about anyone in your care, and not a ruling. It predicts nothing. Eid approaching, a farm, a butcher's, or a recent sacrifice put sheep into sleep with no meaning beyond the day. If what you saw distressed you — slaughter dreams often do — seek refuge in Allah, change the side you lie on, and leave it unrelated.

Dream interpretations are drawn from classical Islamic sources where one exists, and otherwise from general symbolism. They are guidance, never a ruling. Allah knows best.
