The snake is read by what it does and where it is. A snake inside the house is commonly taken for an enemy among those close to you rather than a stranger; one in open country for a distant adversary. Killing a snake is read as prevailing over that opposition, and fleeing from one as avoiding a confrontation rather than losing it. A small snake is a small trouble, a large one a matter with weight behind it. Being bitten shifts the reading from a threat to a harm already done. A snake that is calm or handled without fear has been read differently again — as knowledge, or as wealth guarded closely, since a snake in the older imagery lies over what is buried.
The snake carries two things at once in Arabic usage: concealment and sudden harm. It is the enemy you do not see arriving. The doubled reading as hidden treasure comes from the same quality — what is hidden may be a danger or a store.
A snake dream is not an identification of a person, and reading it as one has broken more friendships than it has saved. It is not a ruling and not a prediction. If the dream disturbed you, the guidance is to seek refuge in Allah, change the side you are lying on, and not to relate it — a dream told is a dream given weight.
A bite shifts the reading from a looming threat to a harm that has already landed — the danger the snake carried has reached the dreamer rather than merely approaching. A small snake's bite points to a small trouble, a large snake's to something with more weight behind it. It is not a sign naming who caused it; reading a bite as an accusation against someone specific is exactly the misuse the careful interpreters warned against.

Dream interpretations are drawn from classical Islamic sources where one exists, and otherwise from general symbolism. They are guidance, never a ruling. Allah knows best.
