Dreaming of Vine in Islam

A vine is read by whether it bears and by who tends it. A vine heavy with grapes is the settled favourable form: wealth that grows by increments and returns more than was put in, or a woman of the household whose good spreads to everyone under the roof. Grapes eaten in season were read favourably and plainly as provision taken at its proper time; grapes eaten out of season were read with more reserve, as good obtained in a way that does not sit right. A vine that is pruned is read as reduction that increases yield — loss that is not loss, which the interpreters noted specifically. A vine cut at the root, or a vineyard destroyed turns the reading toward provision ended at its source rather than merely interrupted. A vine climbing a wall or another tree points to growth that depends on something else to hold it up. Pressing grapes was read by intention, since the same fruit yields a lawful drink and an unlawful one.

The Qur'an's own use of the vineyard carries the reading. In al-Kahf 18:32 two gardens of grapevines are given to a man who then boasts of them and denies that they could ever perish, and by 18:42 his fruit is encompassed by ruin. The vine there is genuine wealth, productive and real, held by someone who mistook it for permanent. That is why the older readings treat the vine as growth that is sound as long as its source is acknowledged.

This dream is not a promise of money, not a statement about a woman in your family, and not a ruling on anything. Nothing about it forecasts gain or loss. A harvest, a market, a garden, or worry about income all produce it directly. If it disturbed you, seek refuge in Allah from what you saw, turn onto your other side, and keep it untold.
