A volcano is read by whether it erupts, how near the dreamer stands, and what is done about it. A mountain smoking without erupting is read as pressure being held: anger, resentment or a grievance not yet spoken but visible to others. An eruption seen from a distance is read as turmoil the dreamer is a witness to rather than a party in. Being caught in the ash or the flow is read as being inside a conflict not of your making. Escaping to safety is the favourable reading and the one the older interpreters emphasised, since what matters in a dream of danger is usually what the dreamer does next. A volcano erupting in a place you know shifts the reading onto that household or that workplace. A volcano gone cold, or one you climb without fear, is read as anger spent and a matter that has settled.
The interpreters had no volcano in their vocabulary, so nothing old is claimed here. What holds the reading is plain and honest: heat contained until containment fails. It matches something the religion addresses directly — the tradition praises not the man who never feels anger but the man who controls himself when it rises, and it teaches practical steps when it does: seeking refuge from the accursed devil, sitting down, keeping silent.
This is not a warning of disaster, not a prediction about any place or any person, and not a ruling. A documentary, news of a real eruption, a quarrel unresolved before sleep, or anger you have been carrying for weeks will each make this dream on its own. If it frightened you, the guidance is the same as for any distressing dream: seek refuge in Allah from its harm, turn onto your other side, and do not tell it around.

Dream interpretations are drawn from classical Islamic sources where one exists, and otherwise from general symbolism. They are guidance, never a ruling. Allah knows best.
