A boat is read by the water under it and by who is aboard. A boat riding calm water is the settled good reading: safety, a matter carried through, deliverance from something that could have taken you. A boat in a storm that stays afloat is read more strongly still — rescue is the whole point of the symbol, and the danger is part of it. A boat that sinks is not read as death but as a support giving way: a partnership, a livelihood, a plan that could not hold the weight put on it. Boarding a boat is read as entering the safety of something larger than yourself — a marriage, a household, a community, a teacher. Leaving a boat before it reaches shore was read as abandoning a protection prematurely. Reaching land is arrival and relief. Steering the boat yourself shifts the reading onto responsibility: you are carrying others, and how the boat behaves is read onto that trust. A boat with no water beneath it was read as effort in a place where it cannot move.
The association is Qur'anic and unmistakable. The ship of Nuh is the standing image of the few carried through a destruction that took everything else, boarded in the name of Allah, with its course and its mooring given over to Him (Hud 11:41). The Qur'an also names ships running on the sea among the signs, and gives the sea itself as the place where a person calls upon Allah sincerely because nothing else is left. Salvation, in that imagery, is a vessel — not the absence of the flood.
A dream of a sinking boat is not a warning about a journey and not a sign about anyone's fate; a dream of a safe crossing is not a guarantee of one. It is not a ruling and not news of what is to come. Much of what appears in sleep is simply the day still moving. If the dream frightened you, seek refuge in Allah, turn onto your other side, and do not tell it to anyone.

Dream interpretations are drawn from classical Islamic sources where one exists, and otherwise from general symbolism. They are guidance, never a ruling. Allah knows best.
