The old interpreters had no term for this — the zipper is barely more than a century old — so nothing here is a classical reading, and it would be dishonest to present one. What can be said is how the interpreters treated the kind of thing it is: a fastening. Fastenings were read by whether they held. A zipper that closes smoothly falls under the readings for something made secure — a matter concluded, a thing kept private that should be. One that jams reads as an obstruction in a small mechanism rather than a large one: the sort of hindrance that is annoying rather than serious. One that opens by itself was, for fastenings generally, read as something exposed that was meant to be covered. Opening one deliberately is the opposite, and reads as a disclosure the dreamer chooses.
Clothing in this field stands for what covers a person — reputation, state, what others are allowed to see — and the Qur'an uses garment imagery in exactly that register, calling spouses a garment for one another (al-Baqara 2:187). A fastening on clothing therefore reads as the control a person has over what is covered, and a zipper is simply the modern version of a fastening.
Because no classical reading exists here, treat this as reasoning by category rather than as a transmitted interpretation, and hold it loosely. It is not a ruling and not a prediction. A jammed zipper the previous day is quite enough to produce the dream. If it unsettled you, the response is the one taught for any distressing dream: seek refuge in Allah, turn onto your other side, and leave it untold.

Dream interpretations are drawn from classical Islamic sources where one exists, and otherwise from general symbolism. They are guidance, never a ruling. Allah knows best.
