A well is read by its water, its depth, and by what the dreamer does at its edge. Drawing clear water up is read as benefit reached through effort — knowledge, livelihood, or help obtained rather than handed over. A dry well is read as a source that has stopped giving: work that no longer returns anything, or a person you have been going to who has nothing left to offer. Falling into a well is read as being brought low by others, and the older interpretations tie it to betrayal from those close by. Being pulled out of a well is read as rescue and, in the same breath, as a station changing. A covered or forgotten well is read as a resource nearby that no one is using. Water that is brackish or hard to reach is read as benefit real but costly. Digging a well for others is read as leaving a good behind you that outlasts you.
The clearest basis is the account of Yusuf, peace be upon him: in Yusuf 12:10 and 12:19 his brothers cast him into a well and a passing caravan draws him out with their bucket. Descent, concealment, and being raised again from below by strangers are all in that one scene, which is why a well carries both the reading of hidden good and the reading of harm done by one's own people. Wells also stand plainly for water in a dry land, so provision needs no argument.
No dream of a well predicts betrayal, rescue, wealth or ruin, and none of it is a ruling on anyone's conduct. Thirst, worry about money, a strained relationship, or reading that story before sleep will each produce it. If it left you afraid, the response taught is to seek refuge in Allah from its harm, turn onto the other side, and keep the dream to yourself.

Dream interpretations are drawn from classical Islamic sources where one exists, and otherwise from general symbolism. They are guidance, never a ruling. Allah knows best.
