Dreaming of Wings in Islam

Wings are read by whose they are, whether they carry the dreamer, and whether they are lost. Having wings and flying with them is read as reach extended — travel, an ambition that finds means, or a standing that lifts a person above where they began. Wings that will not lift you are read as capacity present and conditions refusing it: ability without an opening. Broken or clipped wings are read as support removed, and the older interpretations often read a person's wings as the people who hold them up rather than as their own strength. Wings given by someone is read as help that makes something possible which was not. Wings on another person shifts the reading onto their situation. Losing feathers one at a time is read as gradual weakening, in means or in people. Lowering your wing is the gentle reading, and it is a fixed Arabic image for humility toward those under your care.

This one has explicit textual footing. In al-Isra 17:24 a person is told to lower the wing of humility to his parents out of mercy, so a wing in Arabic is not only flight but the shelter a stronger creature extends over a weaker one. And in Fatir 35:1 the angels are described as possessing wings in twos, threes and fours. Elevation and protection sit in the same word, which is why wings read as both ambition and the people who carry you.

This is not a promise of travel, success, or children, and it is not a ruling. Flying dreams are among the most common experiences in sleep and need no cause beyond sleep itself. Do not weigh a decision on one. If it left you unsettled, the taught response is to seek Allah's protection from its harm, turn onto the other side, and not to relate it.
