A wolf is read by its behaviour and by whether the dreamer is alone. A wolf circling a flock is read as someone waiting for a person or a household to be left unguarded. A wolf that attacks and is driven off is read as harm intended and prevented, and the older interpretations give the weight to the driving off. A wolf among the sheep, unnoticed by the shepherd, is read as a betrayal taking place where responsibility was not being exercised. Being alone when the wolf comes is read as exposure through separation from people, which is exactly what the tradition warns about when it likens the wolf to what takes the one who strays from the group. A tame wolf, or one that does not attack, is read as an adversary present but held, sometimes as someone whose enmity has cooled. Killing a wolf is read as an injustice ended.
Two things support this and neither is invented. Arab usage has long made the wolf the image of the treacherous, since it takes what is isolated and comes when no one is watching. And the Qur'an supplies a specific scene: in Yusuf 12:13-17 the brothers first raise the fear that a wolf might eat him, then use exactly that story as their cover. That episode ties the wolf permanently to a lie told to hide what people did themselves.
This does not identify an enemy, does not warn about any particular person, and carries no ruling. Suspicion you already had, a film, a difficult situation at work, or a bedtime story will each produce it — and treating a dream as evidence against someone is a wrong you would be doing awake, not asleep. If it frightened you, seek refuge in Allah from its harm, turn onto your other side, and do not repeat it.

Dream interpretations are drawn from classical Islamic sources where one exists, and otherwise from general symbolism. They are guidance, never a ruling. Allah knows best.
